To be fair about it: if you run multiple techs and need dispatching, scheduling boards, payroll and a customer call flow, the big platforms genuinely do far more than FieldQuote, and the monthly cost may well be worth it. The most expensive mistake a solo contractor makes is quoting off a gut number. Gut numbers cover materials and the hours you can see, and quietly leave out the overhead that runs whether you are working or not. Here is the arithmetic FieldQuote runs for you every time you build a job.
1. Your true cost per hour = your labor rate + your overhead per hour. Overhead is insurance, truck payment, fuel, phone, software and licenses — divided across the hours you actually bill, not the hours in a week.
2. Job cost = (true cost per hour × hours) + materials + equipment time + the drive to site.
3. Floor price = job cost with your margin applied. This is the number you do not go under.
4. Quoted price = floor price + tax.

FieldQuote is built on a simple principle: your business data is yours. We do not collect it, store it, or sell it.
All data you enter — cost profiles, jobs, quotes, client information — is stored locally on your device using an on-device database. Nothing is transmitted to ProDirt LLC servers because there are none.
If you choose to enable backup in Settings, FieldQuote will back up your data to your personal Google Drive using the drive.file scope. This means:
drive.file scope restricts FieldQuote to files it created — it cannot read anything else in your DriveScheduling a won job creates an all-day event on your primary Google Calendar using the calendar.events scope. If the job has a client email saved, that client is added to the event and Google sends them the invitation. Scheduling only happens when you tap Schedule Job, and unscheduling removes the event. ProDirt LLC never sees your calendar.
Insurance certificates and warranty PDFs you import are copied into FieldQuote's private storage on your device. They are embedded into the quote PDFs you generate and share — that is the point of attaching them — but they are never uploaded anywhere by the app. Google Drive backups carry your typed records, not your imported files.
FieldQuote uses your device location (with your permission) to auto-fill your current position when calculating job distances. Address autocomplete and distance calculation use the OpenRouteService API — your search queries are sent to OpenRouteService's servers to return results. No query data is retained by ProDirt LLC.
The app requires internet access for: address autocomplete, distance calculation, Google Drive backup, Google Calendar scheduling, and the community template library. All of these are optional — the core quoting functionality, including generating and sharing PDFs, works entirely offline.
